Our Group


Matthew’s primary emphasis within the firm is identifying opportunities to hedge risk from the markets.  His focus is highlighting various strategies and techniques to align the client’s investment objectives with their stated risk tolerance.  He also serves in an advisory capacity for the group to their institutional clients including banks and credit unions.

Matthew is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business Executive Education Program.  He holds his Certified Fund Specialist® (CFS®) designation and is a member of the Fixed Income Analysts Society.  Matthew is a frequently quoted as a source in major financial news outlets such as: Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Forbes, BusinessWeek, Bloomberg, MarketWatch and Smart Money.

As a graduate of West Virginia University, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and communications.  He is a member of West Virginia University’s Marmaduke Dent Society and an Ambassador to the school.  Matthew is currently serving appointed terms by the Massachusetts Governor to the board of the Mass Cultural Council as well as the MA Advisory Council on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).  In addition he also serves on the board of the historic Lenox Library Association, Country Club of Pittsfield and a Trustee of Berkshire Housing Inc.  He is a former Board Member and Big Brother of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berkshire County. 

Prior to his work in the securities industry, he worked in Washington D.C. with lobbyist and legislators across the country helping to educate them on a wide range of legislative issues.

Matthew and his wife Hannah live in Lenox, MA with their three children.




Frederick's strengths lie in his ability to assess opportunity in the equity markets. As the person responsible for the group's equity trading, Frederick takes both a fundamental and technical approach to investing. Appropriate diversification is crucial to the group's management style whether in growth, value or balanced portfolios. Through the use of creative strategies, Frederick works with our clients to help dampen the effects of high volatility while offering them an opportunity to participate in the fast-paced and potentially fast-growing segments of the equity markets.

Overall, Frederick strives to maintain a responsible balance for long-term growth. He holds his series 7, 63, 66, 9 and 10 securities registrations. Frederick has been honored by Barron's Magazine as one of the Nation's Top 1000 Financial Advisors* for 2010, 2011 and 2012 and was listed as one of America's top 100 Independent B/D Advisors** in 2011 by Registered Rep Magazine.  In 2018 he was listed by Forbes Magazine on their “Best-in-State Wealth Advisors List”.***

A cum laude graduate of Siena College, Frederick relocated to the Berkshires after working as a Syndicate Trader in New York. Frederick serves on a variety of boards and community organizations including almost 30 years as Secretary, Treasurer and/or President of both the Lenox Police Association and their subsidiary Lenox Police and Fire Charities as well as a member of the Franciscan Volunteer Ministry Associate Board, Town of Lenox Community Preservation Committee and currently serves as a Director of the Massachusetts Broadband Institute and a member of the Board of Trustees for the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Frederick resides in Lenox with his wife, Renee, their three children and their German Shepherd.

David’s experience in tax-efficient investing, business succession and wealth transfer offers our clients an opportunity to help minimize their taxes and potentially increase their returns.  Through his knowledge, especially with respect to retirement plans and his extensive experience in investment and estate planning, David strives to give our clients proactive choices in managing their future.  David’s investment focus is more blue chip equity oriented with an eye toward picking what he considers to be the dominant company in the sector.

He holds his series 7, 63 and 65 securities registrations, and is licensed to sell insurance and variable annuities.  He is a graduate of the institute of Business & Finance where he received his designation as a Certified Estate and Trust Specialist (CES).

David is working on a number of practice and client initiatives throughout their clearing firm and is currently serving an appointed position to the Massachusetts Economic Assistance Coordinating Council.

In addition to his duties with the Keator Group, David is a frequent guest of the lecture circuit, offering estate and investment planning seminars to various Fortune 100 companies.

A graduate of Fordham University with a B.A. in Economics, David completed his M.A. from the State University of New York at Albany.  After working in the tax planning field in New York City concentrating on high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses, David moved to Lenox with his wife Joanne, and their two children.

As the Founder of Keator Group, LLC. Sheila devotes her time working with clients to help them define and achieve business and investment objectives. For clients seeking less volatility in their investments Sheila’s strength in fixed-income management can help create a stream of income while also helping to buffer them from the daily turbulence of the equity markets. With over 30 years of experience, her knowledge of the investment industry is invaluable. Prior to the First Albany Corporation — First Union Securities merger, Sheila was a member of First Albany’s President’s Club and First Albany’s Directors Advisory Council. Currently, she sits on the Advisory Committee for Mass College of Liberal Arts M.B.A. program and serves on the board of directors of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst's Newman Center. In addition she is the former Treasurer and Vice-Chair of the Massachusetts College Building Authority. Sheila was named to the 2004 Research Magazine’s Women’s Winner’s Circle of top-ranked Women's Advisors in America1 and Barron's Top 100 Financial Women in 2006, 2007, & 2008.2

A graduate of The College of Our Lady of the Elms, Sheila went on to receive her certificate of finance and accounting from the Wharton School of Business. She holds her 7, 63 and 65 securities registrations, and is licensed to sell insurance and annuities.

Sheila and her husband George reside in Lenox and Becket MA. They have eight children.

Michelle and her husband John live in Cheshire, MA with their daughters Kelsey and Maggie.

Michelle's role within the Keator Group is to assist in all aspects of the operational business. Since joining the Keator Group in 1999 her various functions include but are not limited to: deposits, check processing, booking physical securities, data entry and processing of portfolio reviews. She holds her series 7 and 63 securities registration and is often the first point of contact via the phone. She is a friendly and familiar voice to our clients.

Stephen is responsible for branch operations and assisting clients. He holds his Series 7 and 63 securities registrations.

A graduate of The University of Massachusetts, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in classics with a concentration in classical civilizations. Prior to joining the practice in 2006, Stephen worked for nine years with the Greylock Federal Credit Union where he was a loan officer.

Stephen and his wife Patti live in North Adams, MA with their two children.
